A song for Peace

"Angels" is the first international song dedicated to Peace meant as a way of destroying the walls and the barriers that deny the possibility for all the populations of living peacefully together and wishing the creation of an inter-religious dialogue. The lyrics, belong to Benedetta Paravia,  are dedicated to the children victims of war.

The anthem “Angels” originates from a true story concerning the death of two young girls, the Israeli Rachel Levy and the Palestinian Ayat Al Akras  (aged 17 and 18) who lost their life in 2002 in a supermarket during a kamikaze attack of the Palestinian. This tragic episode made such an impression on the authoress of the song that she kept a copy of the newspaper and years later, in 2006, she wrote the song in which the children speak of their stories on the last day of their lives encouraging Peace because there are no barriers in Heaven and children play together without race or religion discrimination.

On December 17th 2007 the Italian National UNESCO Committee gave the Patronage to the Song "Angels": " because of the thematic importance of the lirycs with the same value of UNESCO such as peace and solidarity between populations…” and “although endorsements from UNESCO are not given to musical productions belonging to living artists“.

On June 20th 2008 the Papal Council of Justice and Peace of the Holy See gave the Patronage to the song "Angels": “…after a keen analysis and consideration we patronage the song “Angels” which shows, through the noble art of singing, the intentions of the project that carries the same name and for the praiseworthy purposes that the authoress of the project proposes”.

The President of Italian Republic honored the song, the video and the Association A.N.G.E.L.S. with the Presidential Medal with his best wishes for the success of the initiative.

The Association A.N.G.E.L.S. and the song for Peace also received the Patronages of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Youth, the Lazio Region, the Italian Police Force, the Military Air Force and the Italian Society of Pediatrics.
